UCSC will be holding a Public Safety Fair on Monday, December 3 from 10 AM to 3 PM in and outside the McHenry Library main lobby. This event is sponsored by the UC Police Department, UCSC Fire Department, Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS), Student Health Services, University Library, and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Campus Life.
Police, Fire and TAPS personnel will be on hand to answer questions about emergency preparedness, transportation safety, fire safety and crime prevention. There will also be information about various training options including CPR/AED and CERT as well as screenings of the new Ready Slug Productions campus safety videos. Police and Fire vehicles will be on display outside the library.
As a special incentive, Police and TAPS personnel will be handing out a limited number of free bicycle lights/batteries and helmets to attendees. You must bring your bike to the event to receive any of these items and the light will be installed on your bike for you. Student Health Services will also have information on their products and services and a limited supply of items for sale, including low cost bicycle helmets. The Bike Co-Op will also be on-hand to perform free bicycle safety inspections and tune-ups utilizing one of the new bike repair stands which are soon to be installed in various locations around campus.
Please come join us and learn how to be a Ready Slug!
